In your first session, we will briefly talk about what brought you into therapy, what to expect for therapy, and your therapist will get to know you and your personal history. In your second session, you and your therapist will go over a plan for your counseling- this helps you to know what to expect and to participate in the goals that WE set for you. Next, we will get to the fun part, the counseling!

Therapy lasts as long as the client is in need of services & support. The goal is get the client to realize & own their strengths. The therapist/ professional counselors role is to work themselves out of a job, by providing stellar, evidenced based therapeutic intervention to the client.
Absolutely not! Do you talk to your friends or family about what is troubling you? Do you talk to a loved one? When you talk to those individuals, do you wish that they were unbiased or experienced in helping you work through your needs? If yes, that is one of the benefits of therapy! Oftentimes, our loved ones love us so much, that they want the best for us! While this is amazing & you are blessed to have emotional support, sometimes it can be a hindrance because we need that unbiased approach, to really see our situation.
